Basal Cell Carcinoma

  • MCC of NMSC
  • Histology: Invasive clusters of spindle cells surrounded by palisading basal cells
  • Pink pearly nodules with telangiectasias, rolled borders, central crusting

Squamous cell carcinoma

  • 2 MCC of NMSC
  • Rf: sun exposure, organ transplantation, scars, burns (Marjolin ulcer)
  • Histology: Invasive cords of squamous cells with keratin pearls
  • Ulcer that does not heal or continues to grow
  • Majority of lip cancers are well-differentiated squamous cells carcinomas (particularly lower lip)
