Non-IgE immune response to dairy/soy proteins

Risk factors

  • FHx of allergies
  • Eczema
  • Asthma

Presentation

  • Age 2-8 weeks
  • Regurgitation/vomiting
  • ± Painless bloody stools
  • ± eczema

Diagnosis

Bleeding ceases with dietary modifications

Treatment

  • Elimination of milk/soy from maternal diet of exclusively breastfed infants
  • Initiate hydrolyzed formula in formula-fed infants
  • Spontaneous resolution by age 1 year
