  • Endocarditis
  • Valvular disease
  • Long bone fracture
  • Hypercoagulable states
  • Vasculitis
  • Atrial myxoma
  • Painless loss of monocular vision

Diagnosis

Fundoscopy: Diffuse ischemic retinal whitening and cherry red macula

Treatment

  • Ocular massage (dislodge embolus)
  • Acteazolamide and anterior chamber paracentesis (↓ IOP)
  • Carbogen (95% CO2 and 95% O2)
  • Hyperbaric oxygen
