  • Presentation: Headaches, NAV, abdominal discomfort, confusion, coma, pinkish-red skin tone


  • Carboxyhemoglobin levels
  • ABGs: Low HCO3 and pH


  • Remove exposure
  • 100% oxygen
  • Hyperbaric oxygen if severe (acidosis, CNS or cardiac symptoms)

Differential diagnosis

  • Cyanide (burning rubber/plastic)
  • Methemoglobinemia (cyanosis, almond breath)
